Short: SQL-Server! Amiga Binary!! C00L, Get it NOW!! Author: Bambi@Hughes.com.au (David J. Hughes) Uploader: horror@smartnet.co.za (Mike Erasmus) Type: biz/dbase DESCRIPTION: A SQL Database engine to create database applications. For people who don't know what that means, you can develop example a kick ass financial software system with relations. Without fiddling around in C++ code or lines and lines of code to get that address out of a long string. Just send your query to the SQL-Server engine and it will sort it out for you. You can example send the following line of code to the "server": SELECT author, title, isbn_no from publishers WHERE author = 'Pete Simmons' AND title like '%South Africa%' The above example should be self explaining. Requirements: - Any *AMIGA*, I have an A1200-030-18MB RAM & Kick 3.0 - The latest version of ixemul.library - Some common sense. - AmiTCP/IP 4.0+ or Miami 1.xx or better. Maybe TermiteTCP - A C/C++ compiler may come in handy... Configuration: Create a new port in AmiTCP services, preferebly on port 1114, then edit inetd.conf and put in the line to call mSQL. Now start AmiTCP/Miami. Start hacking away, look at the examples all in .html format which ill tell you how to use mSQL. Hint: You need to know some socket programming to get going here, go to a search engine and search for "BSD Socket primer" if you don't know socket programming. CREDITS: David J. Hughes - Original author of this SQL engine, on Linux. BIG BIG MASSIVE THANKS TO: Tyler Saxton e-mail: tls@trinity.unimelb.edu.au for succesfully porting mSQl to the Amiga. Please contact Tyler, and not me (Mike Erasmus) if you have any queries as he was the genius who spent a few hard hours to port mSQL to Amiga. Apparently there are other efforts too... If it doesn't work on your machine, it works on Tyler's machine. He even has the web interface going. So there. Remeber to set a stack of around 400,000.
